Another year in LA for Immortal Marilyn. This year again was a wonderful time. There were
new MM friends to meet, as well as "old" MM friends happy to be together again. And all
together we had a grand time celebrating our love for Marilyn.
By the morning of the 3rd
everyone had arrived in Marilyn's
hometown, and with Shaney Evans
"Head on a Stick" on tow we were
off on the 5th Annual IM Home &
Haunts Tour. The highlight of the
tour was a visit to Hollygrove.
Brooke St. James who has always
worked so closely with Immortal
Marilyn gave us a tour of the
property Norma Jeane lived at
many years ago.
From there we saw the Circle Theater, literally
across the street. In the spring of 1951 Sydney
Chaplin had invited Marilyn, Natasha Lytess
and Shelley Winters to a rehearsal of a play he
was in, and his father was directing there. After
a stop at the Studio Club and De Longpre Park
for a look around and photos we headed to
lunch at Greenblatt's Deli. We all enjoyed lunch
there, some ordering what was Marilyn's
favorite there, pastrami on rye with spicy
mustard. Shaney's HOAS receives her first
makeover!
That evening we held the 3rd Annual IM Pool
Party. The Hollywood Orchid Suites again
graciously provided the Pool area to us. The
never lovelier Suzie Kennedy entertained us
all with Marilyn songs, and did a couple duets
with Roy and David too! We had a Marilyn
gift exchange, a couple of quiz's with prize
give aways, lots of food and drink, and best
of all, great company! Shaney's HOAS made
the rounds, had a few drinks and was looking
very cool in her shades!
On the 4th we took the Catalina
Express to Catalina Island. What
can we say, for those of you who
have visited this island, you know
it is a little bit of paradise in this
world. Everyone enjoyed the
wonderful day there and were
exhausted when we returned to
the mainland in the evening.
Shaney's HOAS showed the
wear of the day, eyes very blood
shot!
The 5th began with the Memorial service which
was lovely of course. From there we made a short
trip to 5th Helena and then on to Greg Schreiner's
for the gathering there. For IM's last official
gathering we met at Musso & Franks for dinner.
There were over 35 of us and a wonderful time
was had by all. From there we attended the
symposium at the Hollywood Max Factor Museum
where a very impressive panel discussed Marilyn's
life and death. Shaney's HOAS looked very pretty
all day, but heard reports of force feeding at Musso
& Franks!
We have to
mention the
good times our
members had
this year besides
the IM
Memorial
happenings. The
last page is a
photo collection
of places also
visited on this
vacation.
IM wants to thank Sean & Heather Williams for
all their help in planning the gathering! Also thanks
to Eric for his help with the tour planning and
donation of a copy of Hometown Girl! Also thank
you to him, Dawn, Sean and Heather, Betsy for
permission to use their vacation photos on these
pages, and also Betsy for the great soaps, and
Rudy and Diane Tisdale for Everything!! Special
thanks to Suzie Kennedy for entertaining the
"Troops" at the Pool Party so wonderfully, and to
Greg Schreiner for the loan of the PA System and
CD player.
