Marilyn Monroe and Niagara the high water mark in suspense!

Niagara Falls is the deceptive setting for this absorbing film with tight direction from Hathaway and superb performances from Cotten as a jealous husband,
Monroe as his neurotic wife. Newlyweds Peters, Adams arrive at their Niagara honeymoon cottage meet another couple, Cotten, Monroe. Monroe, from the
beginning, confides about her husband being considerably older than she; he is depressed, has just been released from a mental institution. Peters later sees
Monroe kissing a young man, Allan, learns that the couple plans to murder Cotten. The film is breathtakingly photographed, in lurid Technicolor that heightens
the sensual energy of the Monroe persona. Jean Peters is lovely effective in a difficult part; the script calls for her to be in Monroe's shadow, yet she's the
stronger of the two. Cotten makes a marvellous antihero, Richard Allan's dark, macho seductiveness makes an exciting contrast to Monroe.
Director: Henry Hathaway. Starring: Marilyn Monroe, Joseph Cotten, Jean Peters, Max Showalter, Denis O'Dea, Don Wilson, Lurene Tuttle, Lester Matthews,
Will Wright, Russell Collins. 1953

The Seven Year Itch

Tagline: It TICKLES and TANTALIZES! - The funniest comedy since laughter began!

Billy Wilder's comedy of the sexes stars Tom Ewell as Richard Sherman, a publishing executive who lives in New York with his wife of seven years and their
son. While his wife and son decamp to the lakes for the summer, he is forced to stay behind in the sweltering heat to meet a deadline. But his discomfort may
be alleviated by the girl who's just moved in upstairs. As the pair get to know each other, her innocent flirting begins to make him wonder
whether, while the cat's away, it's time for the mouse to play. Ewell reprised his role from the Broadway hit, while Monroe was at her most luminously
beautiful, epitomised by the iconic moment when the subway breeze provides her with some welcome cool air, and the audience a glimpse of her legs.
Director: Billy Wilder. Starring: Marilyn Monroe, Tom Ewell, Evelyn Keyes, Sonny Tufts, Robert Strauss, Oskar Homolka. 1955
