Turned out that one of those bridges was exactly what I was looking for and worked out perfectly. I put it on a 70s GTR flathead (thick multi ply rim and likely a poor fitting pot metal tone ring). 26, 2022. I am pretty sure that part of his success in this design is that he creates a very slight radius on the feet to match the sag of the banjo head. (if you get one ditch the guitar tuners and get some cheap planetary tuners) Anyway its a pretty cool little banjo but once I supercharged the Ibanez, I wasn't stopping!! We exchanged a couple of more emails where TIm was very generous with his time in responding to all of my questions. Rarely have I found one small change to make such an improvement. The Ambrosia red maple had a bit more volume and brightness and sounds extremely well balanced over the entire fingerboard and is very responsive. With my Goodtime Crowit was like night and day when compared to the Deering stock bridge that came with my banjo. Note that this is a thin bridge so be careful when installing it. I've used a lot of bridges over the years and Bart's products are a huge step forward. I absolutely love it and have it in now, but the thing that most surprised me was the maple! I could go on and on, but suffice it to say that I'm exceedingly happy and would recommend this bridge to any tenor banjo player. Luckily, since its a 12" banjo there was some low end growl to spare anyway, and the improvement in the high and mid range far out paces the slight loss of bass. The Babadook is rejected from Amelia and tries attacking Samuel, but is backed into a corner by his mother. Just a few of the woods offered are Zebra Wood, Maple, Padauk, Cherry, Rosewood, and Katalox. It seems to retain a great deal of the instruments projection but creates a more complex sound. I swing between clawhammer and up- picking, and not usually on the same banjo. I did have to file the slot a bit for several of the strings, but that was easy. This bridge improved the tone of this RB-250 by increasing its warmth and response by a lot. I had Bart build me a 9/16 teak bridge for my Deering Classic Goodtime Special. The arc seems to be the same as the Moon, so it is slightly less compensated than the Grover. One thing that pleases me a great deal about this bridge is that it does not take away anything from my banjo: some bridges give you something really good, but take away from something else equally as fine to give you that "boost." These bridges are not compensated in any way however I have achieved perfect intonation (12th fret harmonic vs 12th fretted note) on all 5 strings, very cool! Suddenly a light came on over my head and I realized that was why that banjo always had an intonation issue. They give a better note separation and a distinct boost in volume.They deliver a nice crispness to the overall sound of the banjo. I don't think they really "add" any particular tonal quality to the instrument as far as "highs," "lows," or "mids." After 3-4 weeks, the banjo has added plunk and punch and is better able to hold its own in a jam. Tim's bridges are very high on my list. Figured was worth a shot. I tried a Sosebee and several other bridges, but all sounded about the same and very tight/restricted to my ear. In short, there is nothing I don't like about it. I had one of Tim's piano maple bridges on this banjo and it is also great. I get a much more precise, crisp sound south on the neck toward the rim, and a bit more clarity in chording. I now have six David Cunninghams bridges. Some folks might find the tone a little too bright (particularly the 1st string). Now I have the new Scorpion bridge on the banjo.The sound is more rich and the notes are more separate.A very nice job. I bought this off of ebay on a try and see what it sounds like ideal. Darwin (dont blame him a bit) had begun working with a couple of other groups that had scheduled jobs out into the summer. I had already switched to a Fiberskyn head and Rickard tailpiece, both of which made major progress toward the clawhammer sound I was seeking. That helped give me the resistance I needed to get the volume up some, but I lost some of the sweet tone and the highs weren't as apparent. Highly recommended. These are the best sounding bridges of all I've tried, including about 25 bridges of various woods and designs that I made myself. How refreshing it was to see no diva in these incredibly talented girls. It arrived within a week shipped from Canada. I chose the "piano" maple cut bridge with the ebony cap. If you're working with a grover or Goodtime or Washburn factory issue, the Kateyz will make a huge difference. I was doubtful because 1) I am a beginnerand 2) because my hearing is not what is was. Fantastic Bridges.I ordered a regular and a radius to try and was blown away!At first glance these bridges seem bulky with big feet but the composition of the old wood brings out a woody tone without sacrificing the bright tones at all.I would'nt thin them if I were you.I put the radius on a Huber Lancaster and the straight one on a Stelling Red Fox.We made sure the necks were tight and the other ends of the coordinater rods were only finger tight (super secret setup fact #007) and wa la .The Stelling really opened up.The Huber got a little woodier which it needed.Buy one ,experiment with your setup for a week or so and you'll see! Brighter, crisper tone towards the bridge and mellow but resonant tones towards the neck. Also, I learned a lot about bridges from Bart's website banjobridge.com. When I received it the cap wood was not quite wide enough for Crowe spacing, which I prefer. It sounded better than the last banjo it was on but still seemed to be lacking in the bass, which is what the Tenn20 rings are known for. I tried the bridge first on my Fender Artist, my banjo of choice lately. The feet are nice and wide, making the bridge pretty stable. Do yourself a favor. spend the very minute amount of money on these the difference they made is priceless. Playing the banjo was much better with the BuulFrog. I own several bridges made by Bart and highly recommend his products. The banjo has no more intonation issues up-neck. Just didn't deliver the way the Kateyz does. It is purrrrrrfect And just mellowed the tone/brightness a little. And there is no comparison to any straight bridge. Reading all over the web quickly confirmed that these were supposed to be really good, so I ordered one with 5/8 height, 46 mm string spacing, untopped as recommended by Bart for clawhammer, and in B (heavy) weight for added dark tone. I have been looking for a bridge to give me a little more control over my tone on my Morgan Monroe Cameron open back with W/L tone ring. Just bought a Huber banjo, & just for kicks I put the Davis bridge on it & it accomplished the same thing. I can "pull" out tones that are strong - or delicate - at will, without effort. After replacing the Moon bride with the Romero bridge, I noticed a considerable difference in tone. What if both were good singers? This bridge is amazing, totally transformed my Gold Tone OB250+ into a different banjo. All of this customer service and my favorite custom banjo bridges for a very reasonable price. I would describe the overall sound as full and balanced. Well maybe not .Definitely a nice step up from a standard factory bridge. Definitely more crisp and clear. It is the nicest bridge I have tried to date, replacing a moon bridge I was previously using. I want to make it clear that this bridge is not a miracle cure for larger tonal/structural issues. I like this banjo in that it's response readily allows me to switch from standard Scruggs style Bluegrass playing to plectrum style playing: I've played that style since I was a kid. Instead of going with the same woods, I wanted to try the Teak. My little Recording King is not the most expensive on the block but I believe she sure sounds like it. I love this bridge! The curves are sinuous looking and the finish is very smooth with just a very light oil to protect and bring out the grain. It became a lot more responsive! I can't stress this enough, take the time to get your measurements right, from bridge height to string width, playing style, head material, etc. The only way to know for sure is to try it out yourself. I've been using 11/16" bridges forever, simply because I like that particular height, but I have never been satisfied with the tone they give. There were none. intonation has improved tremendously.
